Only die-hard “Angel” fans will recognize that name most likely. Andy Hallett played the unusual but lovable demon Lorne on the “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” spin-off “Angel.”
Hallett passed away due to heart failure Sunday night at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with his father by his side according to his longtime friend and agent Pat Brady. He had been diagnosed about five years ago with heart disease, and had been in the hospital numerous times over that span. Pricate funeral services will be held some time this weekend in Cape Cod, Massachusetts near where he grew up in Osterville, MA.
I always liked Lorne. He was one of my favorite characters during his three or so seasons on Angel. He did go on to pursue his musical career after Angel.
R.I.P. Andy Hallett – I am sure the demon within him will keep him singing for a long time.
Here is a clip of him singing Lady Marmalade as Lorne. Yes, that is Hallett actually singing. It is one of two songs he contributed to the “Angel: Live Fast, Die Never” soundtrack in 2005. the other song was “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”

This still upsets me so much. It is always tragic to hear when someone dies well before their time but even more so when the world has lost such a talent whose star would have most likely been on the rise if given more time. He always made me smile on Angel and was one of my favourite characters. I always thought his name, Lorne Greene, was one of the funniest things Joss Whedon had put into the show but only older people would ‘get’.
Andy may be gone but his spirit and talent will live on every time we watch Angel. Now he’s an angel himself. RIP.
