Why The U.S. Should Cut Ties With Pakistan – Let Me Count The Ways

The United States has sent somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 billion to Pakistan since 2003. There is a bill currently in place that guarantees we send another $1.5 billion a year to Pakistan until 2013.

Osama Bin LadenWhat was all of this money supposed to be spent on? The efforts to fight and bring down terrorism, al Qaeda, and particulary Osama Bin Laden.

What has this money been spent on? It has purchased more arms for the Pakistani military, bought some more nukes, and probably lined the pockets of many corrupt Pakistanis along the way.

Missle Silo - NukeAbbottabad overheadPakistan is not fooling anyone. It is literally impossible for a man such as Osama Bin Laden to be living in that compound for what reposts show possibly 5 years now, and before that a couple years in a town even closer to the country’s capital, Islamabad with no one knowing about it. Abbottabad is home to many of Pakistans retired military and generals. It is also home to what has been called “Pakistan’s equivalent of West Point.” All of these military people crunch in one small area and no one noticed one of the most recognizable men in the world who is also abnormally tall in comparison to most in the area? Yeah, no one is buying it. Well let me correct that, Donald Rumsfeld apparently belives it, but we all know his past decisions and what else he has believed previous.

Rumsfeld Can't See

Now, that bin Laden is dead and buried in the Arabian Sea we know that we lost a top secret helicopter in the operation to take him down. It was a stealth helicopter that had only been rumored to exist till now. While U.S. Navy Seals attempted to destroy all remains of the wreckage they did not. Pictures are everywhere of the tail section of the helicopter.

We have all seen video of Pakistani children gathering up the pieces of the outer shell of the helicopter and of the tail section being carted off under a tarp by Pakistani officials.

The U.S. has nicely asked for the remains of this helicopter to be returned. Pakistan has said they are considering. One Pakistani official actually hinted that China is also very interested in seeing the wreckage. China and Pakistan have a very close relationship. China has helped Pakistan acquire their nuclear technology and warheads. Pakistan has long sought something to give back to China to try and earn even more favor with their Communist allies. The official actually said they may let the Chinese see the wreckage before returning it to the U.S.. China has long tried to perfect stealth technology and do currently have a stealth plane. With their current knowledge and close up views of the U.S.’s technology they could easily build their own stealth helicopter.

Are these the actions of a U.S. allie? Are these the actions of a country who by the end of 2013 we will have paid at least $25 billion over the span of a decade? I certainly don’t think so. It seems to me they are more of an enemy than an allie. Why should we continue helping them stock up on nukes for their war with India that they are bound to start at some point. A war where some unstable idiot will launch a missle that will destroy the entire Asia sub-continent and most likely a lot more than that. People were concerned when the Japan nuclear plants were damaged when they were hit with an earthquake two months ago. Imagine how much actual damage a few nukes exploding in Pakistan and India will do when they radiation makes its way around the world and reaches the west coast.

John Boehner

John Boehner and the Republicans want to cut trillions (thats with a T) from the U.S. budget while not raising taxes on the rich of the nation. Well why doesn’t Mr. Boehner go tell Pakistan to ask China for the $1.5 billion a year they were expecting from us because we aren’t sending it anymore.
