Schock Value? Republican Rep. Aaron Schock on Cover of Men’s Health Magazine

Rumors have been swirling about Republican Representitive Aaron Schock from Illinois for some time now. Rumors that perhas he is gay. A fact that truly doesn’t matter other than the fact that he is 1) A Republican, 2)Has voted against repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, and 3)Has also voted against gay marriage.

I must say that if it does eventually come out that he is gay I won’t really be surprised. It is always the ones that speak up the loudest against gay rights that wind up being wrapped in some sort of scandal that proves they are indeed gay themselves.

The rumors really caught on when pictures of him shirtless came out. Mix that with the fact that he is 29 and not married or in a known relationship. He is admittedly the last of his siblings to remain unmarried, as well of the last of his circle of “guy friends.”

While I do not feel any of this really proves he is or isn’t gay, I do think he is not exactly helping his cause with some of his actions. The first photo was put out by TMZ originally. It shows a shirtless Schock sitting poolside with an ample set of breasts above his head. He can be seen explaining the image in this Good Mornng America video as being at a get together for his good campaign supporters in his hometown of Peoria, Illinois. He also explains how the young lady’s parents are right on the other side of the chair to try and reassure his base that there was nothing inappropriate going on.

The next picture that caused an uproar when it went viral was from a picnic he attended also back in Peoria. It went viral for the umm, “fashionable” belt he is wearing in the photo. I am not sure why there is no mention of his white jeans or gingham patterned shirt.

After all the rumors and bad photo-ops you would think he might try to keep his incredible abs underwraps so to speak. Instead though, he has gone out to do a photo shoot for the cover of Men’s Health Magazine’s May, 2011 issue. A cover that he appears mostly shirtless in. It is all part of a campaign to get America fit. Which of course is a great thing to try and do, but it seems it could backfire on him now that the rumors are coming to the forefront once again.

Apparently he gets in a daily workout at 6:30AM everyday in the House of Representitive’s gym, doing regular P90X workouts.

I don’t really understand why him being physically fit has to mean he is gay, although when you add in some of the photos and other facts, I would say it certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. My only issue once again would be if he were and still took the stances that he does in his voting history on the House floor.

The more important matter to address here is in fact his votes in the House which was I said earlier include votes against gay marriage, against repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and of course his effort to end the Medicare system.Aaron Schock End Medicare cover

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee quickly came out with their version of comedy on the matter again. This time they took Schock’s Men’s Health cover and worked some magic with Photoshop. Their cover’s headline read, “End Medicare”, with smaller messages all over the page. One reads, “Who needs Medicare when you’ve got abs like these?”, while another said, “Political Muscle! America’s Fittest Congressman! Rep. Aaron Schock – Standing up for billionaires, big oil, and protein shakes.”
